What Olathe patients pay
Most facilities bill a colonoscopy in pieces — the facility, the physician, the anesthesia and the pathology each arrive as a separate invoice. We quote one number that covers all of it.
| What's included | Colonoscopy KC | Typical facility |
|---|---|---|
| Procedure | $1,275 all-in | $2,550 – $4,800 unbundled |
| Physician fee | Included | $500 – $1,200 separate |
| Anesthesia (CRNA) | Included | $400 – $900 separate |
| Pathology / lab | Included | $200 – $600 separate |
| Polyp removal | Included | Often billed separately |
Upper endoscopy (EGD) is $1,175, and both procedures together in one visit are $2,175 — one prep, one recovery. See full pricing.
Should you be screened?
- • The American Cancer Society recommends screening beginning at age 45 for adults at average risk.
- • If a parent, sibling or child was diagnosed with colorectal cancer or advanced polyps before age 60, screening typically begins at age 40 — or ten years before their diagnosis age, whichever comes first.
- • Symptoms such as rectal bleeding, a change in bowel habits, or unexplained weight loss warrant a conversation at any age.
Colorectal cancer is the second-leading cause of cancer deaths in the U.S., and over 90% of cases are treatable when found early. A colonoscopy is the only test that can both detect and prevent the disease in one procedure, because polyps are removed as they are found.
What the day looks like
- 1. Prep, the day before. A clear-liquid day and a split-dose regimen. Full instructions are on our prep page.
- 2. Check in at WestGlen Endoscopy Center. A certified registered nurse anesthetist administers sedation through an IV.
- 3. The procedure. About 30 minutes. Polyps are removed on the spot if any are found.
- 4. Recovery. Roughly 30 minutes, then your driver takes you home. Most patients resume normal activities the next day.
- 5. Results. Biopsy results, if any tissue was sent, usually come back within a week.
Common questions from Olathe patients
Do I need insurance to be seen from Olathe?
No. Colonoscopy KC does not participate with insurance plans. Every procedure is self-pay at one all-inclusive price, with payment due one week prior to the procedure. There is no claim to file and no separate bill afterward.
How far is the procedure from Olathe?
WestGlen Endoscopy Center is about 15–20 minutes from Olathe, I-435 north to Midland Drive. Parking is free and directly outside the entrance.
Do I need a referral?
A referral is not required to schedule. The consultation is included in the price, and Dr. Earl will review your history and symptoms before the procedure.
Will I need someone to drive me home?
Yes. Sedation is administered through an IV by a certified registered nurse anesthetist, so you cannot drive yourself afterward. Plan on someone accompanying you.
What if a polyp is found during my colonoscopy?
It is removed during the same procedure at no additional charge — polyp removal and the pathology that follows are both included in the $1,275 price. Removing polyps is how a colonoscopy prevents cancer rather than only detecting it.
How long does the whole visit take?
The procedure itself takes about 30 minutes, followed by roughly 30 minutes in recovery. Most patients are home well before the afternoon and back to normal activities the next day.
